Abstract
The study’s purpose is to examine how trauma and psychological acceptance affect suicidal risk and how these variables were related to university student’s gender. To this end, data was collected using the adult attachment styles, trauma, psychological acceptance and suicide risk questionnaire for 645 university students residing in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. The collected results were verified for effectiveness at a significance level of .05 using SPSS and AMOS programs. The main results of this study were as follow. First, trauma, psychological acceptance and suicidal risk had significant differences between groups depending on adult attachment styles. Second, the influence of trauma and suicidal risk showed difference depending on attachment styles. In other words, university students who formed secure attachments were found to be a factor that weakened the impact of trauma on suicidal risk compared to university students who formed insecure attachments. Third, the influence of psychological acceptance and suicidal risk showed difference depending on adult attachment styles. In other words, university students who formed secure attachments were more likely to reduce the influence of psychological acceptance on suicidal risk than university students who formed insecure attachments.
