본 연구에서는 선행연구를 면밀히 검토하여 그 결과를 반영하여 자연발생적인 상황에서 발달지체유아에게 전반적인 교육활동에 필요한 총체적인 개별화 프로그램들로 구성된 매뉴얼을 제공하여 손 씻기, 소변누기와 식사하기 등의 독립적인 일상활동기술과 그 일상활동기술 수행시 필요한 신체개념과 일상활동 어휘의 자발화를 향상시켜 학교와 지역사회로의 성공적인 완전통합의 가능성을 극대화시키고자 하였다. 연구의 목적은 통합환경에서 일상활동기술 교수프로그램이 발달지체유아의 일상활동기술과 신체개념과 일상용어와 관련된 어휘의 자발화 향상에 미치는 효과와 효율성을 살펴보고자 하는 것이었다. 본 연구에서 사용한 중재도구는 크게 사정, 교수와 평가의 3단계로 구분되며, 사정양식과 교수계획 등이 포함된 사정과 교수자료의 완벽한 풀 패키지 매뉴얼로 구성된 일상활동기술 교수프로그램이다. 프로그램의 효과성을 평가하기 위해 발달지체유아를 대상으로 한 일상활동행동과 언어행동간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계(multiple probe design)를 사용한 결과, 일상활동기술 교수프로그램이 발달지체유아의 일상활동기술과 목표 일상활동기술 수행시 필요한 신체개념과 일상활동관련 어휘의 자발화를 향상시키는데 효과적이었다.
