Abstract
The purpose of this study was to increase the spoken language skills of a child with developmental disabilities through Behavior Chain Interruption Strategy. The subject was a child with developmental disabilities in the sixth grade. Multiple Probe Design across settings was applied with three environments which are selected in daily life of the subject; playing time, sport, and cleaning time. The intervention was carried out 5 sessions a week, total 40 sessions, and when the success rate of 90% was over successive three times, two generalization sessions were monitored. The subject interacted with adult in the first session, and with peers in the second one. The maintenance test of acquired behaviors was conducted after three weeks from the finish of the intervention, under the same circumstances of baseline. Behavior Chain Interruption Strategies, including choice making, blocked response, missing item format, delayed assistance, wrong item format were used, and time delay, verbal cue, modeling were used as an prompting procedure. The results of this study were as follows; First, Behavior Chain Interruption Strategy was effective on the improvement of the calling ability of a child with developmental disabilities. Second, Behavior Chain Interruption Strategy was effective on the improvement of the request ability of a child with developmental disabilities . As the results, Behavior Chain Interruption Strategy was effective on the improvement of the calling and request skills by spoken language of a child with developmental disabilities.
