Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the impact of a self-esteem group intervention program on the adaptation to school life and the self-esteem of at-risk high school students with conduct disorders. The subjects were 48 at-risk high school students with conduct disorders. The 24 students in school A were assigned into the experimental group and the 24 students in school B were assigned into the control group. The research design was pre and post control group design and independent two sample t-tests were implemented to answer the research questions. The group intervention program was composed of 20 sessions. Instructional materials such as books, multi-media materials, games, and songs were used. The results of the study were as follows: (a) The self-esteem group intervention program had positive impact on the adaptation to school life of at-risk high school students with conduct disorders; (b) The self-esteem group intervention program had positive impact on the self-esteem of at-risk high school students with conduct disorders. Limitations of the study and implications for future research were discussed.
