K-CBCL 1.5-5와 Gottman의 양육방식 유형에 의한 유아의 정서행동문제와 어머니의 양육방식과의 관계

초록

본 연구는 최근에 개발된 K-CBCL 1.5-5와 Gottman의 양육방식 유형에 근거하여 유아의 정서행동문제와 어머니의 양육방식과의 관계를 체계적으로 살펴보고자 실시된 조사연구이다. 본 연구의 대상은 G시 소재 518개 어린이집 가운데 비율군집표집을 통하여 선정된 17개 어린이집에 재원 중인 550명의 유아와 그 어머니들이었다. 선정된 550명의 어머니들에게 질문지를 배부한 결과 530부가 회수되었으며(회수율: 96%) 그 가운데 500부가 최종 분석자료로 사용되었는데 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 유아의 정서행동문제는 내재화문제가 외현화문제에 비해 다소 높은 점수를 보였으며 내재화문제의 준임상비율과 임상비율이 외현화문제의 준임상비율과 임상비율보다 각각 다소 더 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 양육방식은 유형별 정도와 주양육방식 둘 다에서 감정코치형, 방임형, 축소전환형, 억압형의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 유아의 정서행동문제와 어머니의 양육방식과의 관계는 먼저 어머니의 양육방식 유형에 따라 유아의 정서행동문제와의 상관관계에 차이가 있었으며, 다음으로 어머니의 주양육방식이 억압형인 경우 축소전환형 또는 감정코치형인 경우보다 외현화문제와 총문제행동에서 점수가 더 높았고, 마지막으로 외현화문제에서 준임상비율과 임상비율 모두 주양육방식이 억압형인 경우가 가장 높았고 그 다음 방임형, 감정코치형, 축소전환형 순이었다. 이와 같은 결과는 선행연구와 연계하여 논의되었으며 향후 관련연구 및 과제를 위한 몇 가지 제언이 제시되었다.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationships between child's emotional/behavioral problems and mother's parenting style based on K-CBCL 1.5-5 and Gottman's types of parenting styles. To do this, 550 mothers of children attending preschools in G city were asked to complete a questionnaire. Out of 550 questionnaires, 530 questionnaires were returned(return rate: 96%) and 500 questions were used for data analyses. The data analyses revealed the following results: (a) Children showed a little higher scores in internalizing problems than in externalizing problems and both clinical rate and borderline-clinical rate in internalizing problems were also a little higher than those in externalizing problems. (b) In terms of both the degree of each parenting style and the primary style of parenting, mothers showed the highest score on ‘emotion coaching’ followed by ‘laissez-faire’, ‘dismissing’, and ‘disapproving’ in the order of score. (c) There were differences among parenting styles in correlation between child's emotional/behavioral problems and mother's parenting style; children with disapproving mothers showed higher score in externalizing problems and total problem behaviors than those with dismissing or emotion coaching mothers; and both clinical rate and borderline-clinical rate in externalizing problems were highest in children with ‘disapproving mothers’ followed by ‘laissez-faire mothers’, ‘emotion coaching mothers’, and ‘dismissing mothers’ in the order of rate. The results were discussed and several suggestions were presented for future related research.
