초록
Due to increased global connections and mobility, the life trajectories of transnational families become more diverse. This study investigates Korean transnational families’ language ideologies and family language policies (FLP) by analyzing their life narratives. Narratives were collected and analyzed from five Korean mothers with different transnational experiences, immigrant histories, and language learning backgrounds. We focus on how the mothers manage their children’s language education and ideas on bilingualism based on their own experiences and backgrounds. We also investigate how the future orientation for each family determines the families’ current language practices. The discussion on the challenges the mothers faced in implementing and developing different FLP follows after.

We also investigate how the future orientation for each family determines the families’ current language practices. The discussion on the challenges the mothers faced in implementing and developing different FLP follows after.
