학교 성교육에 대한 기독교 교육적 고찰

학교에서의 성교육 논쟁은 성교육이란 무엇인가? 어떤 내용을 가르쳐야 하는가? 누가 어떤 방식으로 가르칠 것인가?에 대한 충분한 논의가 이루어지지 않은데서 비롯된 것이다. 기독교교육은 이러한 학교 성교육의 의미를 재정립하고 바람직한 성교육 방향을 모색해야 할 책무를 갖고 있다. 이에 연구자는 종합적인(comprehensive) 관점에 따른 학교 성교육의 의미를 되짚어보고 학교 성교육이 안고 있는 제한점들을 분석해봄으로서 기독교적 성교육을위한 관점을 제언하였다. 먼저 현행 학교 성교육의 제한점으로는 가치중립적인 접근의 문제, 성교육 내용의 적절성 문제, 교사와 교육과정 운영상의 문제를 제기하였다. 다음으로 기독교적 성교육을 위한 관점으로는 성적 존재로서의 인간관, 책임을 수반하는 성 윤리관이 확립되어야 함을 기술하였다. 마지막으로 기독교적 성교육 운영방안으로는 첫째, 성교육과정 운영의 목표를 성적 존재로서의 인간성 회복에 두어야 한다. 둘째, 성교육과정 내용 및 방법은 성 문화와현상에 대한 통찰이 있어야 한다. 셋째, 성교육의 주체는 교회와 가정 그리고 학교가 협력하는 것이 바람직하다고 제시하였다. 이 논문은 학교 성교육 문제가 지나치게 이데올로기적 대결구도로 치닫는 것을 방지하고 성교육 본래의 의미와 목적에 관심을 갖도록 도움을 줄것이다. 아울러 기독교교육이 학교 성교육에 기여할 수 있는 가능성과 방향성을 제시하고 있다는 학문적 가치가 있다.
Abstract
Recent disputes over sex education in school have derived from the lack of discussions about a series of questions including “What is sex education?”, “What content should be taught in sex education?”, and "Who should provide sex education in what methods?" Christian education has its duties of reestablishing the meanings of school sex education and searching for desirable directions for sex education. The investigator, thus, reexamined the meaning of sex education from a comprehensive perspective, analyzed the limitations of school sex education, and proposed a perspective for Christian sex education and an operational plan for sex education curriculums based on the analysis results. The present study first pointed out the limitations of current school sex education including the issues of value-neutral approaches, appropriateness of sex education content, and teachers and curricular operations. It then introduced a couple of perspectives for Christian sex education including the viewpoint of man as a sexual being and that of sexual ethics to be accompanied by responsibility. Finally, it proposed the following operational plans for Christian sex education: first, the goal of sex education curriculums should be to restore the nature of man as a sexual being; secondly, the content and methods of sex education curriculums should be based on insights into the sex culture and phenomena; and finally, the desir- able subjects of sex education include the church, family and school based on their cooperation. The present study is expected to prevent the recent issues of school sex education from heading into an excessive ideological confrontation and help people take interest in the original meaning and purpose of sex education. In addition, it holds its academic value as a study to propose the possibility and directionality of Christian education’s contribution to school sex education.
