초록

목사의 생존의 문제는 한국 교회 생태계에서 매우 심각한 문제이다. 많은 목 사들이 생존의 문제로 인해 목회 현장에서 물러나고, 또한 교회가 문을 닫는 다. 목사의생존을위한대안중의하나가바로두직업목회이다. 한국교회 의현상황을보건데, 두직업목사의필요성이매우높고, 또한합당하다. 본논문에서필자는두직업목사를정의하고, 두직업목사가단지생존만 을 위한 수단이 아니라 목사가 다양한 이유로 선택할 수 있는 목회형태임을 논한다. 계속해서 오늘날 두 직업 목회가 어느 정도 폭넓게 활용되고 있는지 미국교회와 한국교회를 중심으로 살펴본다. 필자는 논문의 핵심이라고 할 수있는두직업목사의합당성을논한다. 필자는두직업목사의합당성을 위해 구약성경의 인물들을, 서기관 전통을, 사도 바울을, 그리고 마지막으로 교회역사를 살펴본다. 필자는 한국교회의 현실 속에서 두 직업 목사의 합당 성과그대안을제시한다. 결국필자는두직업목사형태는성경적으로신 학적으로 그리고 교회사적으로 문제가 없는 바, 목사가 자신의 목회현장에 서 자신의 신학적 확신과 목회적 소신에 따라 선택할 수 있는 목회형태임을 제안하고, 지금까지의 한국 교회에서 두 직업 목사를 경시했던 편견이 재고 되어 오히려 한국교회의 위기를 타개하는 방법으로서 적극적으로 활용해야 만 한다고 주장한다.

Abstract

The issue surrounding a pastor’s survival is a serious problem in the Korean church. Many pastors retreat from ministry as a result of survival, and thus, churches are closed. A solution to this problem is the bi-vocational pastor. Given the current situation of the Korean church, the need for bi-vocational pastors is high and reasonable. In this paper, the author defines the bi-voca- tional pastor and makes a case for them by arguing that it is not merely a means for a pastor’s survivor. Rather, the author states that it is a form of ministry in which pastors can participate in. In addition, this paper exam- ines the extent to which bi-vocational ministry is used, with a focus on the American and Korean churches; discusses the worthiness of bi-vocational pastors by examining Old Testament figures, the scribe tradition, the Apostle Paul, and church history; and argues that pastors who engage in bi-vocational ministry are not wrong biblically, theologically, and historically. Rather, the author sees that this form of ministry can be chosen according to a pastor’s theological and ministerial convictions. The author urges the Korean church to rethink the prejudices that have neglected bi-vocational pastors and to view them as a way to overcome the Korean church crisis.
