초록

This paper tries to suggest effective ways to preach the Genesis in the postmodern era. Based on the brief researching on the key issues and essential contents of the book, this paper mainly proposes the homiletical directions for preaching Genesis. To find the primary homiletical direction, the paper focuses three elements for effective preaching Genesis in the postmodern era. First element is a “proclamation and praise” for the main sermonic direction. Second one is the sermonic method to reinforce the strength of narrative in Genesis. Third one is the communal application to overcome individualism and to support a faith community. This paper will first examine characteristics of Genesis, then describe features of the postmodern society, and finally suggest the homiletical directions for effective preaching Genesis. An ignorance of the origin makes people just live each day without asking who they are, where they came, and where they go. The postmodern life that has no knowledge of the origin could be compared to formless and void darkness in Genesis 1. God’s word that created all existences and perfect order desperately needs to people in existential confusion and the identity crises. It is time to turn our eyes into Genesis for hearing God’s word.
