지금까지 문법적 혹은 더 넓게 언어적인 해석에 기초한 설교의 대부분은단어 연구 혹은 단어 의미에 편중되어 왔다. 그 중에 특히 어원론적인 단어의미에 집중한 설교는 단어의 의미에 대한 연구인 어휘의미론(Lexical Semantics)의 무지와 남용으로 말미암았다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 의미전달혹은 의사소통(communication)에 있어서 의미의 가장 기본적인 단위는 단어(word)이다. 단어 연구 혹은 단어의 의미 이해란 설교자의 본문 해석뿐만 아니라 설교 작성과 전달에 있어서도 매우 요긴한 도구이다. 이와 같은 중요성에도 불구하고 단어의 의미 고찰은 역사적으로 자주 오용되어 왔기 때문에 본 연구는 어휘의미론에 대한 이해가 주석적으로 어떤 공헌을 하는 지를 헬라어 단어를 중심으로 살펴본다. 특히 단어의 의미연구에 있어서 네가지 가능한 의미들인 어원적 의미, 사전적 의미, 사회-문화적인 의미 그리고 문맥적 의미를 중심으로 살펴보면서 그것의 주석적 역할과 과제가 무엇인지를 제안할 것이다.
Abstract
Up until now, most traditional sermons based on grammatical and broad linguistic interpretations have been centered on word studies or word definitions. Such sermons focusing on etymology are the results of igno-rance and the misuse of lexical semantics. Whether communicating by writ-ten text or spoken words, words are the basic units used. There is no doubt that word studies and lexical semantics are necessary tools for sermon preparation and delivery as well as exegesis. But despite it’s importance, lexical semantics have been misused often throughout history. This paper aims to explore how proper understanding of lexical semantics can contrib-ute to exegesis. In particular, this study suggests the exegetical role and task of lexical semantics by dealing with four kinds of meanings a word has in Greek word study: etymological meaning; lexical meaning; socio-cul-tural meaning; and the meaning; that comes from the literary context.
