제롬 브루너의 교육 사상적 관점에서 본 종교개혁자들의 교리문답교육 효율성 제고 방안

올해로 종교개혁 500주년을 맞게 되었다. 종교개혁 시기에 종교개혁자들이중요하게 생각하였던 교육적 노력가운데 가장 눈에 두드러지는 것 중에 하나가 교리교육에 대한 강조이다. 오늘날교리교육은 한국교회에서 외면당하고 있는 형편이다. 입교자나 세례자를 대상으로 간단한 교리교육이 이루어지고 있기는 하지만 이것마저도 요식적으로 이루어지고 있는 경우가 대부분이다. 이 연구의 목적은 오늘날도외시되고 있는 교리문답 교육을 활성화시킬방안을 찾는 것이다. 이와 같은 목적을 실현하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 먼저종교개혁자 마틴루터(Martin Luther)와 존 칼빈(John Calvin)의 교리문답서의기본 구조와 그 안에 도입되어 있는 교수법을 확인하였다. 그리고나서 제롬브루너(Jerome Brunner)의 교육사상 속에 나타난교육적 통찰을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서는 브루너의 전후기 이론을 기초로 하여 이야기와 함께교리가제시되는 것, 그리고 그 의미가 쌍방향적인 질문과 대답 속에서 구체화되고구성되어 가는 것을 제안하였다. 이와 같은 방식의 교리교육이 교육현장에서 일어난다면, 오늘날교리교육이 안고 있는 난점들이 해결될 수 있을 것이라 생각된다. 종교개혁자들에게 있어서 교리교육은 문답의 형태로 가정에서 실시되는 것이어야 했다. 오늘날도 가정에서 교리문답을 통해 전달되는 교리들은 쉽게 제시되어야 한다. 핵심적인 내용들을 간추려서 방대하지 않은 분량으로 기성세대로부터 자라나는 세대에게 전수되어야 한다. 교리교육의 내용은 변치 않지만, 그 교리와 함께전달되는 삶의 이야기들은 가족구성원들에 의해 계속해서 풍부하게 확장되어 자신의 정체성을 분명히 깨닫고 세상을 변화시키는 건강한 그리스도인들이 많이 양성되길기대한다.
Abstract
This year marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. One of the most prominent things of the educational efforts that the Reformers considered important during the Reformation was the emphasis on educating catechism. Today, educating catechism is being ignored by Korean churches. The purpose of this study is to find ways to stimulate catechism education that is being neglected today. In order to realize this purpose, this paper first investigated the basic structure of the Catechism of Martin Luther and John Calvin, and the teaching methods introduced therein. It then presented educational insights that appeared in Jerome Brunner’s educational thoughts. This paper proposed that the doctrine is presented along with the story based on Bruner’s educational theory, and that the meaning of the doctrine is specified and constructed in interactive questions and answers. If this kind of catechetical education takes place in the education field, the effectiveness of catechism lessons today can be forcefully enhanced. For the Reformers, catechism lessons should have to be conducted in the home. The catechism must be passed on to next generations from the older generation. The contents of catechism does not need to be changed, butthe stories of life delivered with that doctrine must be continually expanded by family members
