영혼돌봄의 역사와 신학적 특징의 고찰을 통한 현대 목회상담에 대한 제의

이 논문의 목적은 목회상담은 성경과 교회의 전통에 근거해야 한다는 전제에서, 영혼돌봄의 역사와 신학적 특징을 고찰하는 것이다. 이 고찰을 통해 현대 목회상담에서 사라진 중요한 요소들을 알아보고 현대 목회상담에 적용할 것을 제언한다. 인간은 하나님의 영원성을 닮았다. 타락의 상태로 영원히 살 수 없기에 궁극적으로 인간에게는 구속이 필요하다. 이와 같은 맥락에서 교회 전통 안에서 지속적으로 이루어진 영혼돌봄은 말씀과 성례를 중심으로 한 구속이 목적이었음을 확인한다. 전통적인 영혼돌봄의 원리는 개인적으로는 하나님의 형상 회복으로, 죄의 고백과 회개로 하나님과 화평을 이루고 그리스도로 인한 새로운 존재가 되는 것이다. 공동체적으로는 서로 위로하고, 말씀의 증거로 인해 교회공동체의 구성원이 되게 하는 것이다. 결론적으로 영혼돌봄은 성도의 성화와 교회공동체를 돕기 위한 것이었다. 목회상담이 전문화되고, 학문으로 정착된 후 심리학과 정신의학이 현대 목회상담에 많은 영향을 주었다. 그 영향에 대하여 인간을 이해하는 일에 긍정적인 공헌을 하기도 했지만, 영혼돌봄의 뿌리와 같은 교회론과 인간론이 희미해졌다고 평가한다. 이 논문에서는 현대 목회상담의 정체성이 혼란한 상황에서 말씀의 중요성, 죄와 고백과 회개의 요소를 복원시켜야 할 것을 제안한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the historical and theological characteristics of soul care, based on the premise that pastoral counseling should be grounded in the Bible and the traditions of the church. Through this examination, the paper will identify important elements that have disappeared from modern pastoral counseling and suggest their application in contemporary practice. Since humans, created in the image of God, are beings in need of restriction due to their capacity for eternal life, soul care within the church tradition has been focused on redemption based on Scripture and sacraments. Therefore, the principle of soul care was, on a individual level, to rescover the image of God. Confessing sins and repenting to achieve peace with God and become a new creation through Christ is the goal. On a communal level, it involves comforting one another and bearing witness to the Word, thereby integrating individuals into the church community. In conclusion, soul care was intended to aid in the sanctification of church members and the church community. With the specialization and establishment of pastoral counseling as an academic field, psychology and psychiatry have significantly influenced it. While this influence has made positive contributions to understanding humanity, the foundational elements of ecclesiology and anthropology in soul care have become obscured. In the midst of the confusion over the identity of pastoral counseling, this paper suggested that the importance of Scripture, as well as the elements of sin, confession, and repentance, be restored in modern pastoral counseling.
