Abstract

From this study, I drew the following conclusion regarding the value and improvement of dance education at elementary school Dance contributes to human being's mental integration and the ultimate purpose of education is to contribute to self-exploration based on conscious experiences, therefore dance education is examined in the aspects of emotion, intelligence, social value, and so on as well as body. The ways to improve dance education at elementary school are as follows. The first, teachers' qualification should be improved through giving teacher's license to only dance teachers who major in dance education, and then dance teaching should be performed in concrete and positive. The second, detail and profound studies should be conducted so that they can be a help to physical, intelligent, mental, and social aspects by developing various and suitable programs for children in growth period and by making regular education course of the dance education of elementary school. The third, teachers and the education concerned should change their consciousness by realizing that dance education at elementary school is not just instrumental education for receiving prize from many contests in or out of school but all-round education to develop children's mental and physical areas at the same time by showing their sensitivity or thought as physical motion. The dance education of the 21st century is focused on the 'lifelong education'. In lifelong education-oriented teaching, dance should be regarded as important education through whole life as well as the youth period or school days. In other words, dance education at school is a part of lifelong education and at the same time it is in the position of basic learning.
