현대사회에서 신체표현 양식으로서 스포츠가 가지는 의미는 일상적인 것으로부터 비일상적인 것에 이르기까지 매우 다양하다. 이러한 의미들은 스포츠현장이라는 문화적 장에서 기능하며, 기존의 의미를 확장하고, 변모하면서 발전해나간다. 그리하여 스포츠현장에서 볼 수 있는 신체표현 양식들은 체육학적 담론의 대상으로서 관찰되고 분석되고 있다. 그러나 그 동안의 논의들에서 스포츠의 섹슈얼리티에 관한 주제는 의도적으로 배제되어 온 경향이 있다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 섹슈얼리티라는 주제를 다룰 때 가장 중심적인 축을 이루는 푸코의 저서『성의 역사』를 중심으로 그에 대한 개념과 특성을 파악한 후, 스포츠의 역사를 통해 드러난 섹슈얼리티의 모습을 조망하였다. 이는 현대사회에서 드러나는 스포츠 섹슈얼리티 현상을 파악하고 진단함으로써 이 주제에 대한 부정적인 시각을 탈피하고 논의의 전면에 배치하여 논의될 수 있음을 밝히고자 한 것이다. 연구의 논의과정에서 쾌락의 능동적인 의미를 통해 섹슈얼리티에만 집착하는 부정적 쾌락이 아닌 긍정적인 쾌락이 구성될 수 있다는 가능성이 제기되었다. 이는 스포츠의 섹슈얼리티 담론이 성 차별에 한정된 주제를 넘어 스포츠의 본질을 규명하는 중심적 과제로 상정될 수 있음을 의미하는 것이다.
Abstract
The meanings, which are possessed by sports as the mode of physical representation in modern society, are very diverse ranging from what is daily to what is non-daily. These meanings function in the cultural space called the sports field, and proceed with being developed while expanding and transforming the existing meaning. Thus, the modes in physical representation, which can be seen in the sports field, are being observed and analyzed as the subjects of physical educational discourse. However, in the face of playing a culturally great role in the discussions in the meantime, the aspect, which was excluded intentionally, exists. It is just the topic on sexuality in sport. Accordingly, this study considered the process of a change in sexuality amidst the history of sport based on concepts and characteristics, which were revealed in『History of Sexuality』written by Foucault, who forms the most central axis when addressing the main subject called sexuality. As a result, it proposed possibility that the positive pleasure can be formed, not the negative pleasure, which sticks only to sexuality, through the affirmative meaning that pleasure has. This also implies that the discourse upon sexuality in sport may be presented as the central task of examining the essence of sports beyond the restricted title to sexism. Accordingly, the understanding and diagnosis about the phenomenon in sports sexuality, which is revealed in modern society, can be the ground that can escape from the negative sight, which is being unveiled traditionally about this topic.
