Abstract

The poomsae of this study was to combine Taekwondo poomsae with aesthetic theories and thereby seek potential aesthetic values of poomsae game. It is expected that poomsae game will help players to get over interpersonal technical gaps between them and make players and spectators get and feel better experiences owing to mutual competitions. In addition, mastery shown in poomsae game and aesthetic impression from a series of motions and actions represent aesthetic aspects of Taekwondo poomsae as a part of martial art and sport. Based on skilled motions and forms, it is expected that poomsae game players will exert their best skills in arena, and poomsae will be expressed as an artistic object with the techniques, skillful motions and actions. Furthermore, when one's inner world is aligned with motions expressed to the outside till he masters complete technique of poomsae with skillful motions and actions, it is also expected that we will see perfect activity and aesthetic elements of poomsae. And the expression of technical factors and motional correctness in poomsae, that is, motional sequence of move-in and move-out at motional demonstration of poomsae - bodily movement, instantaneous connection and moderate motions of putting in hand and foot at attack before putting out them at defense or post-attack timing - contributes to increasing aesthetic values. As soon as physically trained region of one's body moves straightly, curvedly or diagonally and thereby reaches match or target by defense, punch and kick, he or she can concentrate strong momentum of power on a point to the full extent in the state of pause, and can re-synthesize power in the state of momentary pause to set up motional orientation.
