다문화 사회 속의 초등무용교육: 변화를 위한 모색:포크댄스(Folk Dance)를 중심으로

Abstract

Due to the rapid increase of foreign workers and marriages after the 1990s, our society is coming into contact with the new code called “multiculturalism” due to foreign female migrants. Also, the repressed assimilation of multicultural family’s children has led to a raise in societal and educational problems. In this research, a focus is placed on elementary education when the educational problems, especially in terms of basic morality, start to form systematically within multiculturalism and the role of dance as an educational curriculum is proposed in this situation. In this research, the 7th education curriculum of elementary dance program is examined and evidence to discover that change is proposed. Among various dance programs, folk dance is mostly tailored towards European countries as an elective course, excluding a Philippines’ traditional dance. As the vulnerability of the Asian countries is surfacing, now the education curriculum needs to be designed to match this change. Various children’s problems that are derived from multiculturalism needs to implemented from the public education’s perspective, not just alternative education perspective. Folk dance is program that acts as a proxy for specific ethnic groups’ uniqueness including religion, history, idea, lifestyle, and customs. Children will not only experience other unique cultural aspects of various nations and nationalities, but they will be able cultivate a more open attitude. By strengthening Asian countries’ folk dance, not just European countries, it will be an important opportunity to understand “difference” or “divergence” of various cultures.
