Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the therapeutic function and potential of rap, a new therapeutic tool to help adolescents in psychotherapy. First, we researched the concept of rap to find out what rap is, and what the term rap therapy is like. Along with the use of the term rap therapy, the movement of using rap as a therapeutic tool in the process of treatment has been active, through researches using rap as a therapeutic tool we have discovered various therapeutic functions of rap. After reviewing various literatures, the suggested therapeutic functions of the rap were classified and suggested in six categories. Furthermore, in order to confirm the function of rap in the clinical field, we examined the models and programs of rap therapy and looked for actual cases of applying rap in psychotherapy. Based on the various studies referenced, it was confirmed that rap has value and potential as a therapeutic tool to help adolescents of this age. Furthermore, it was suggested that studies using rap in the therapeutic process started in the United States and were applied in the same way in Korea. More studies are needed.
