청소년기 생애목표와 공동체 의식의 관계에서 자아정체감의 역할

초록

본 연구에서는 청소년기 생애목표가 어떻게 분류되는지 살펴보고, 생애목표가 공동체 의식에 미치는 영향 및 생애목표와 공동체 의식의 관계에서 자아정체감이 어떤 역할을 하는지 알아보았다. 또한 초기 청소년기(중1)와 중기 청소년기(고1)에 따라 생애목표의 예측력이 어떻게 달라지는지 비교하였다. 연구에서는 한국아동·청소년패널조사 2010(이하 KCYPS 2010)의 초4 패널 총 2,378명의 4차(2013년도)와 7차(2016년도) 자료를 사용하였으며, 탐색적 요인분석으로 생애목표의 유형을 분류한 뒤 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년기의 생애목표는 외재적 목표, 내재적-자기지향 목표, 내재적-친화 목표, 내재적-자기성장 목표, 내재적-자기초월 목표로 분류되었다. 둘째, 공동체 의식에 대해 내재적-자기초월 목표는 정적 영향을, 외재적 목표나 내재적-자기지향 목표는 유의한 영향이 없거나 부적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 생애목표와 자아정체감의 상호작용에서 외재적 목표는 낮은 수준의 공동체 의식을 예측한 반면, 내재적-자기초월 목표는 높은 수준의 공동체 의식을 예측하였다. 넷째, 공동체 의식에 대한 내재적-자기성장 목표의 예측력은 초기 청소년기에, 내재적-자기초월 목표의 예측력은 중기 청소년기에 각각 더 높았다. 마지막으로 청소년 시기별로 공동체 의식을 예측하는 생애목표 회귀계수의 차이가 통계적으로 유의한지 알아보기 위하여 4차년도(중1)와 7차년도(고1)의 집단 간 회귀계수를 비교하였다.

Abstract

In this study, we examined how life goals are classified among early and middle adolescents and explored the influence of life goals on sense of community. We also aimed to identify the moderating effect of self-identity on the relationship between life goals and sense of community. Additionally, we sought to compare the predictability of life goals between early (grade 7) and middle (grade 10) adolescents. Data were extracted from a total of 2,378 participants from the fourth-grade panel of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2010 (KCYPS 2010) conducted in 2013 and 2016. We employed exploratory factor analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and the difference test of regression coefficients in our study. The results are as follows. First, life goals were found to be classified into five dimensions: extrinsic goals, intrinsic-self-oriented goals, intrinsic-affiliation goals, intrinsic-self-growth goals, and intrinsic-self-transcendence goals. Second, self-transcendence goals had a positive impact on sense of community, while extrinsic or self-oriented goals either had no significant impact or had a negative impact. Third, extrinsic goals predicted a lower sense of community when interacting with self-identity. However, self-transcendence goals predicted a higher sense of community through interaction with self-identity. Finally, the predictability of self-growth goals was higher for early adolescents, while self-transcendence goals showed a higher predictability for middle adolescents.
