본 연구는 흔히 ‘현대 해석학의 아버지’라고 불리는 슐라이어마허(Friedrich Schleiermacher)의 해석학에 대하여 분석적으로 살펴봄으로써 그 구체적인 내용과 주요 특징들, 그리고 그 학문적인 공과를 간략하게 분석해 보고자 하는 것이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 슐라이어마허의 해석학 이론의 핵심적인 내용을 분석함에 있어, 먼저 그의 그러한 혁신적인 이론들의 배경이 무엇인지를 그의 앞선 선행자들의 해석학적 유산들에 대하여 살펴보았다. 나아가 그의 이론이 가진 주용 특징과 연구사적 논쟁점들, 그리고 철학적 해석학의 정립과 발전에 미친 주요 공헌들이 과연 무엇인지 핵심적인 요점들을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 마지막으로, 그의 해석학 이론의 핵심 내용을 그의 해석학 관련 저서들을 중심으로 분석하면서, 특히 그가 제시한 해석학 이론의 전체적인 체계와 구조를 ‘해석의 과정: 해석학적 순환’의 개념을 중심으로 집중적으로 살펴보고, 그 학문적 공과를 평가해 보았다.
Abstract
In this study, I tried to briefly analyze the hermeneutical theory of Friedrich Schleiermacher(1768-1834), who has been called as ‘the father of modern hermeneutics’, especially focused on its concrete structure, significant characteristics, and academic contributions. In doing so, first of all, as its backgrounds I checked his forerunners’ theoretical heritages for the innovative hermeneutics, specially Friedrich von Schlegel(1772-1829), Friedrich August Wolf(1759-1824), and Friedrich Ast(1778-1841). And then, I also tried to critically analyze and summarize the important characteristics and controversial points in Schleiermacher’ s hermeneutics, and its academic contributions in the process of development in the modern hermeneutics. Finally, I tried to analyze the systematic structure of the actual hermeneutical process in concentrating on the concept of ‘Hermeneutical Circle’ in which its all levels step by step, and also I critically evaluated his academic contributions for the modern hermeneutics.
