6 시그마는 기업의 성공을 무조건 보장하지 않는다. 6 시그마를 도입한 어떤 기업은 성공하고 어떤 기업은 실패한다. 이것은 왜 그럴까? 본 논문에서는 6 시그마를 도입한 기업들을 대상으로 6 시그마의 성공과 실패를 가져 온 중요한 요인들을 파악하기 위해 탐험적 분석을 하였다. 그래서 기업의 문화, 초기 경쟁력, 프로세스의 내재 능력, 프로세스 개선 방법, 6 시그마의 적용 범위, 추진 사무국의 위상 등이 6 시그마의 성과에 끼치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이러한 요소들은 기존의 연구와 많이 다른 요소들이다. 연구 결과, 위의 6 가지 요소들이 6 시그마의 성과에 영향을 많이 주는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
Six Sigma does not always guarantee the success of the company. All of the companies implementing Six Sigma have not been successful. Why do these results happen? The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the critical factors determining success and failure of the companies which implemented Six Sigma. Specifically the main focus of this study is the effect of six factors on the performance of Six Sigma. The six factors are the culture of the company, the initial competitiveness, the internal capability of processes, the improvement methodology of processes, the scope of Six Sigma application, and the type of the steering organization. These six factors have little mentioned in other researches. The result of this study shows that these six factors have significant effects on the performance of the companies.
