반-아타락시아 전략과 불안의 긍정성: 불안, 회의, 신앙의 삼위일체적 변주를 중심으로 한 키에르케고어의 내면성의 철학

본 연구는 키에르케고어의 불안 개념의 전통적 의미를 벗어나지 않고(즉, 그리스도교의 전통적 원죄 교리에 근거한 키에르케고어의 불안 개념) 그 맥락 내에서 마음의 평정심을 추구하는 헬레니즘 철학 가운데 하나인 에피쿠로스와 다르게 반-아타락시아(αντι-ἀταραξία) 관점에서 심리, 회의, 신앙주의의 삼위일체적 변주에 대한 그의 불안의 긍정성을 모색한다. 인간은 불안하다. 그러므로 존재하기 때문에 타락 전 아담에게 정신에 있는 불안과 타락 후 전적 부패 상태에 있는 인간에게 불안은 회피해야 할 대상이 아니다. 키에르케고어는 창세기에 등장하는 아담의 이야기를 통해 불안, 순진함, 무, 자유를 해명한다. 논자는 키에르케고어의 불안의 의미가 철저하게 원죄를 전제한 불안 개념이지만 타락 전, 후에 불안이 인간에게 긍정의 역할을 담당한다는 점을 탐구한다. 불안은 타락 전 아담의 정신을 확립하고 자유의 현기증 상태에서 자유의 가능성에서 현실성으로의 이행을 돕는다. 타락 후에 불안은 신앙을 통해 교육적 역할을 하는 즉 신앙을 통해 구조하는 불안이다. 본 논문은 이러한 불안의 의미를 탐구하기 위해 키에르케고의 『불안의 개념』을 토대로 키에르케고어가 불안과 유관하여 언급한 정신, 무, 자유의 현기증, 공감적 반감이나 반감적 공감 등의 개념들을 고찰하며 실천적, 인식적, 존재론적 지평에서 불안이 인간에게 반-아타락시아적 불안의 긍정성 관점을 제공한다는 점을 주장할 것이다.(이러한 관점을 달리 표현하자면 탈-키에르케고의 불안 정통주의 혹은 탈-실존주의적 불안 개념이다)
Abstract
Without departing from the traditional meaning of Kierkegaard’s concept of anxiety (i.e., Kierkegaard’s concept of anxiety grounded in the traditional Christian doctrine of original sin), this study explores the positivity of his anxiety in the trinitarian variants of psychology, skepticism, and pietism from an anti-ataraxia (αντι-ἀταραξία) perspective, as opposed to Epicurus, one of the Hellenistic philosophers who sought tranquility of mind within that context. Human beings are anxious. Therefore, because it exists, anxiety is not something to be avoided, both for Adam in his spirit before the Fall and for humans in their state of total corruption after the Fall. Kierkegaard uses the story of Adam in Genesis to elucidate anxiety, innocence, nothingness, and freedom. This paper explores how Kierkegaard’s meaning of anxiety is strictly predicated on original sin, but anxiety plays a positive role for humans before and after the Fall. Anxiety establishes the pre-fall Adam’s spirit and helps bring reality to the possibility of freedom in the dizziness(vertigo) of freedom. After the Fall, anxiety plays a pedagogical role through faith, that is, it is a rescuing anxiety through faith. To explore this meaning of anxiety, this paper will draw on Kierkegaard’s Concept of Anxiety to examine Kierkegaard’s concepts of spirit, nothingness, dizziness of freedom, sympatheitc antipathy, and antipathetic sympathy in relation to anxiety, and argue that anxiety offers human beings a positive perspective of anti-Ataraxian anxiety on the practical, cognitive, and ontological horizons (to put it differently, a post-Kierkegaardian Angst-orthodoxy or a post-existentialist conception of anxiety).
