『磻溪隨錄』 「敎選攷說」에 나타난 柳馨遠의 敎育史觀

Abstract

Yu Hyoung Won was a preeminet thinker in the 17th century in Korea. Usually, modern Korean historians regard him as the father of the new school 'Sil Hak(實學)', so his masterpiece 『Ban Gye Su Rok(磻溪隨錄)』 has been spotlighted since 1950's. Especially 「Gyo Seon Ji Je(敎選之制)」 in 『Ban Gye Su Rok(磻溪隨錄)』 which suggested his educational reform project was accepted as the key part by Korea educational historians. But 「Gyo Seon Go Seol(敎選攷說)」 which is coupled with 「Gyo Seon Ji Je(敎選之制)」 has not been considered as a important thesis. It shows me that the researches on the 『Ban Gye Su Rok(磻溪隨錄)』 are not sufficient. 「Gyo Seon Go Seol(敎選攷說)」 is not only the basis of the understanding of his educational reform project, but also the gate into his understanding of the history of the Confucian education. So this study aims at extracting his understanding of educational history by analysing the content of 「Gyo Seon Go Seol(敎選攷說)」. The results are as followings. First, 「Gyo Seon Go Seol(敎選攷說)」 contains the ideal paradigm of the confucian education, the historiography of the selection system form BC 3th century to AD 17th century and the explanation of the causes and the meaning of the historical change. It means that 「Gyo Seon Go Seol(敎選攷說)」 was a sort of the educational history and Yu Houng Won was a historian of education in the 17th century. Second, 「Gyo Seon Go Seol(敎選攷說)」 can be regarded as a sort of educational history, but has some shortcomings as a modern history of education. Yu Hyoung Won did not try historical analysis and did not focus on the historical context. But these shortcomings are not his own. The other historians in those days had common point of view. So his understanding of history of education can be evaluated as a pre modern history of education. Nevertheless, his case sheds light on the way of the research in the pre modern history of the confucian education.
