이 논문의 주된 목적은 사랑에 관한 헤겔의 서술을 비체계적이고 탈중심화된 방식으로 재구성하는 것이다. 이 글이 지향하는 사랑의 몽타주는 헤겔과 헤겔의 대결에서 새로운 헤겔을 만나는 것이다. 어떤 헤겔은 사랑을 체계 내부의 한 계기로 소화해 지양한다. 다른 헤겔은 사랑에서 체계를 넘어서는 힘을 본다. 이 글에서 우리가 만나게 될 새로운 헤겔에게 사랑은 자연적이면서 인륜에 맞지만, 동시에 자연과 인륜의 한계를 넘어간다. 나는 먼저 감정으로서의 사랑과 코드로서의 사랑의 역사를 짧게 서술한다(1장). 이 과정에서 나는 헤겔이 개념화를 시도한 사랑을 ①‘실체(Substanz)를 해체하는 힘’이면서, ②‘실체를 형성하는 힘’으로 해석한다. 이를 위해 나는 실체에 관한 헤겔의 이론을 약술한다(2장). 헤겔은 실정적(positiv) 실체를 해체하는 사랑의 힘을 신체화한 인격체로 예수와 안티고네를 내세운다. 나는 청년 헤겔이 관심을 가졌던 예수의 사랑에서 실정성을 해체하는 힘을 읽어낸다(3장). 헤겔은 실정성을 해체하면서 새로운 실체를 구성하려는 사랑의 비극을 『안티고네』를 통해서 드러낸다. 나는 안티고네의 사랑을 인륜적 실체의 무상함을 드러내는 비극으로 읽는다(4장). 헤겔은 사랑이 인륜적 실체로서 결혼에 이르는 것에 높은 가치를 부여한다. 그에게 결혼은 성관계나 ‘계약을 넘어서는 계약’으로서 하나의 인격을 만드는 실체성을 갖는다. 나는 결혼과 가족이라는 실체가 사랑의 인륜적 실현이나 지양이 아니라는 점에 주목한다(5장). 헤겔은 계속해서 사랑의 열기를 식히려는 장치를 마련한다. 하지만 사랑은 절대 차가워지지 않는다. 나는 결코 차가워질 수 없는 사랑의 힘이 헤겔의 텍스트에 흩어져 있다는 것을 암시한다(6장).
Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to reconstruct Hegel’s description of love in an unsystematic and decentralized way. The love montage that this article aims at is meeting a new Hegel in the confrontation between Hegel and Hegel. Some Hegels subdue love by digesting it as an opportunity within the system. Other Hegels find in love a power that transcends the system. For the new Hegel we meet in this article, love is both natural and human, and at the same time, it goes beyond the limits of nature and humanity. I first briefly describe the history of love as an emotion and love as a code(Chapter 1). In this process, I interpret the love that Hegel attempted to conceptualize as ①‘the power to dismantle substance(Macht)’ and ②‘the power to form substance (Kraft)’. For this interpretation, I outline Hegel’s theory of substance(Chapter 2). Hegel presents Jesus and Antigone as persons who embody the power of love that dismantles positive reality. I read the power to dismantle positivity in the love of Jesus, which the young Hegel was interested in(Chapter 3). Through Antigone, Hegel reveals the tragedy of love that seeks to construct a new entity by dismantling the positive. I read Antigone’s love as a tragedy that reveals the transience of human reality(Chapter 4). Hegel attaches high value to love as a human substance leading to marriage. To him, marriage is a contract that goes beyond sexual relations or a contract, and has the substance of creating a single personality. I focus on the fact that the reality of marriage and family is not the human realization or sublation of love(Chapter 5). Hegel continues to prepare devices to cool down the heat of love. But love never grows cold. I imply that the power of love, which can never be cooled, is scattered throughout Hegel’s text(Chapter 6).
