Abstract

This paper was reviewed about the making up a question and Quotation techniques used in Yuan Hong-Dao’s the landscape essay. Yuan Hong-Dao, a writer n the late Ming Dynasty, is the representative of the Gong-an School, who led the literary innovational movement. He is also a leading literary theorist and outstanding writer in the late Ming Dynasty. He created many poems and prose, especially many outstanding props. The prop text in the late Ming Dynasty has been a great value in Chinese prose thought. Among Yuan Hong-Dao’s props, the landscape essay has many excellent works. In this landscape essay, many works of art were created by utilizing the creative techniques of “ZhiQi” and “XinQi” as well. In addition, he made wonderful expressions using various rhetoric techniques as well as these creative techniques. Various investigative techniques were used in his organic prose, such as simile metaphors, pseudo-human preparations, treatments, section chief, questionnaires, and citations. The natural scenery and the landscape in essays were vividly expressed through these rhetoric techniques. The quotations making up a question rhetoric techniques strengthen the expressive and powerful descriptions by adding objectivity to its literary nature. Therefore, the work is very realistic and lively, raising the level of the art.
