지역사회 거주 발달장애인의 도전적 행동에 영향을 미치는 일상적 지원요인: 성별 차이를 중심으로

초록

현재까지 발달장애인의 도전적 행동에 대한 실증연구는 부족하고, 특히 젠더 특성을 고려한 연구는 거의 없었다. 이에 본 연구는 ‘2020년 발달장애인 일과 삶 실태조사’를 활용하여 SUR 토빗 모형을 적용하여 성별 도전적 행동 발생 빈도 및 심각 정도 양상과 영향요인을 분석하고 비교하였다. 최종 분석에 지역사회 거주 남성 발달장애인 1,616명, 여성 발달장애인 723명이 선정되었다. 분석결과, 여성 발달장애인의 도전적 행동의 전반적인 양상이 남성만큼 심각한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 성별로 차이를 보이는 영향요인들이 있었다. 남성 발달장애인에게서는 일상생활 차별 경험이 있을수록, 새로운 관계 형성이 쉽지 않을 때 도전적 행동의 발생 빈도 및 심각 정도가 함께 늘어났다. 반면 여성 발달장애인에게서는 인지기능 점수가 낮을수록 도전적 행동의 발생 빈도 및 심각 정도가 함께 늘어났으며, 발달장애인 복지서비스 이용 시 문제 경험 변수의 상대적 영향력이 가장 컸다. 연구결과를 기반으로, 빈번하고 심각한 도전적 행동을 예방하기 위한 실천적 및 정책적 방안으로 도전적 행동 위험 사정 체크리스트 개발, 다차원적 일상적 지원 프로그램 제공, 성별 차이를 고려한 맞춤형 지역사회 프로그램과 교육 등에 대해 제언하였다.

Abstract

There is a lack of empirical research on challenging behaviors in people with developmental disabilities, especially those that consider gender characteristics. Therefore, this study analyzed and compared the frequency and severity of challenging behaviors by gender, and their influencing factors by applying the SUR Tobit model using the ‘2020 Survey of Daily Life and Work of People with Developmental Disabilities’ data. A total of 1,616 men and 723 women with developmental disabilities living in the community were selected for the final analysis. The results showed that the overall pattern of challenging behaviors among women with developmental disabilities was as severe as among men, and that there were influencing factors that differed by gender. That is, for men with developmental disabilities, the frequency and severity of challenging behaviors increased with the experience of daily discrimination and the difficulty of forming new relationships. For women with developmental disabilities, lower cognitive functioning scores were associated with increased frequency and severity of challenging behaviors, and the relative influence of the problematic experience on social service for people with developmental disabilities variable was greatest. Based on the findings, we presented the development of a challenging behavior risk assessment checklist, the provision of multidimensional daily living support programs, and gender sensitive community programs and education as practical and policy measures to prevent frequent and severe challenging behaviors.
