생애사 관점에서 본 여성도박자들의 중독과정과 내용

본 연구는 생애사 관점에서 여성도박자들의 중독과정과 내용을 규명하고 이를 근거로 여성도박자들을 위한 실천적 방안을 제시하려는 목적으로 수행하였다. 이를 위하여 총 5명의 도박중독경험이 있는 여성들을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하였고 원자료는 Mandelbaum(1973)의 생애사 연구방법론을 원용하여 삶의 차원, 전환점, 적응 세 가지 영역에 따라 분석을 실시했고 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 연구참여자들은 대부분 생애과정에서 지속적인 배제와 차별을 경험하였고 과거 부정적 경험을 벗어나기 위한 방편으로 경제적 부 달성과 사회적 지위향상을 위해 노력하였다. 그러나 경제적 성취 후 곧이어 공허감이 찾아왔고 이를 메우기 위해 도박이라는 일탈적 수단을 선택하게 되었다. 참여자들의 생의 무의미함과 허무가 도박중독을 예인하는 강력한 생의 사건으로 나타났다. 도박을 개시한 후 연구참여자들은 별다른 탐색이나 자기숙고과정 없이 곧바로 도박중독에 진입했고 중독된 이후에도 도박을 끊고 재활을 하겠다는 의지가 드러나지 않았다. 참여자들의 삶의 전환점은 경마장과 게임장, 강원랜드 카지노 출입이었지만 그 근간에는 억눌린 감정을 해소하려는 욕망과 한많은 세월에 대한 보상심리, 삶의 무의미함과 무료함 등이 작동하였다. 연구자들은 연구결과와 논의를 기초로 여성도박자들을 위해서는 성인지 관점과 생애과정 관점을 도입한 특화된 프로그램을 제언했다.
Abstract
This study was performed in order to closely examine female gamblers' addiction process and contents from the viewpoint of life history and to suggest a practical plan for female gamblers based on this. This study was participated by 5 women who have experience of gambling addiction. The data were formed an analytical frame by researchers based on Mandelbaum(1973)’s research method of life history and were carried out analysis according to this. The findings are as follows. The research participants mostly experienced continuous exclusion and discrimination in the process of lifetime and aimed to overcome the negative experience in the past with an effort to improve social position through achieving economic wealth. However, a sense of emptiness came following the achievement. To fill up this, a deviant means called gambling was selected. The participants' meaninglessness and futility in life were indicated to be a strong life case that tows gambling addiction. After beginning gamble, the research participants entered the gambling addiction immediately without the special process of exploration or self-deliberation and were not well revealed a will as saying of rehabilitating with cutting off addiction even after being addicted. The researchers suggested a specialized program that introduced the gender-sensitive perspective and the life-process viewpoint for female gamblers based on the findings and discussion.
