The purpose of this study is to seek the implication in order to find the proper resolution againstthe recent integration of kindergartens and child care centers in Korea based on the results from thetrends of the integration and recent policies of Japan that are very similar to the child care andeducational system of Korea in terms of policy. The contents of this study include three themes asfollowing. First, it investigated the policies that proceeded with the integration of early childhoodeducation and child care in Japan historically. Second, it analyzed the contents of the new supportsystem for children and child-rearing that treated the integration policy of kindergartens and childcare centers. Third, it found out the implications of the integration of kindergartens and child carecenters in Korea according to a content analysis of those in Japan. Analysis was undertaken of thecontents of recent policy reports and policy manuals in the fields of early childhood education andchild care as the method of solving the three research themes above.
