빅데이터에 나타난 ‘프로아나’에 대한 동향분석: 국내 포털 및 소셜 미디어를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 ‘프로아나’ 관련 국내 빅데이터 자료의 분석을 통해 주요 이슈와 의미를 탐색해보는 것이다. 이를 위해 2008년 1월부터 2020년 12월까지 국내 포털과 소셜 미디어에 게재된 게시물을 수집하고, 언어네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프로아나와 관련한 상위 핵심키워드는 청소년, 찬성, 몸매, 소셜 미디어, 다이어트, 개말라 등이었다. 둘째, 토픽모델링 결과 2개의 주요 주제가 ‘프로아나의 현주소’, ‘마름에 대한 갈망’으로 명명되었다. 메인토픽인 ‘프로아나의 현주소’는 프로아나가 무엇인가에 대한 개념설명과 핵심 이슈들에 대한 논의였고, ‘마름에 대한 갈망’은 이상적 신체상 실현을 위한 극단적 체중감량 행위와 프로아나 단어 사용의 일상화에 관한 내용이 언급되었다. 도출된 결과에 따라 프로아나 정체성을 지닌 이들의 신념 및 활동 특성이 확인되었다. 마지막으로 프로아나에 대한 사회적 관심과, 다양성 존중을 위한 인식 개선의 필요성을 제안하였으며 상담 및 교육적, 정책적 개입에 대한 시사점과 연구 의의를 논의하였다.

Abstract

The study aimed to explore key issues and meanings of ‘Pro-ana’ through big data in South Korea. Posts published on local portals and social media were collected from January 2008 to December 2020, and semantic network analysis was performed. The results are as follows: First, the top keywords related to ‘Pro-ana’ were teenagers, agreement, body shape, social media, diet, and freaking skinny. Second, as the results of topic modeling, two topics were named ‘the current state of Pro-ana’ and ‘the desire to be thin.’ The main topic, ‘the current state of Pro-ana’, was a conceptual explanation of what Pro-ana is and a discussion of fundamental issues. ‘The desire to be thin’ was about extreme dieting for an ideal body shape and the daily use of the word Pro-ana. Based on the results, we confirmed what beliefs those with a Pro-ana identity have and how they behave online. Finally. The study suggested that social attention to the Pro-ana movement is necessary and that awareness of body diversity needs to be improved. Implications for counseling, education, and policy interventions and the significance of the study were also discussed.
