내현적자기애가 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향에서 평가염려완벽주의의 조절효과: 특목고와 일반고를 중심으로

본 연구는 고등학생의 내현적자기애 성향이 대인관계문제의 각 하위변인에 미치는 영향에서 평가염려완벽주의의 조절효과가 학교 특성에 따라 어떻게 차별적으로 나타나는지를 알아보기 위해 연구대상을 특목고와 일반고로 나누어 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 세종, 대전, 충남, 전북, 전남, 경북 지역에 위치한 12개 고등학교(특목고: 영재고 1개, 과학고 4개, 외고 2개, 일반고: 자공고 1개, 일반고 4개) 1～3학년 1095명이고, 측정도구로는 내현적자기애 척도, 대인관계문제 척도, 평가염려완벽주의 척도가 사용되었다. 연구의 결과는 첫째, 내현적자기애는 특목고 학생의 경우 사회적억제, 비주장성, 일반고 학생의 경우 사회적억제, 과관여에 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 평가염려완벽주의는 특목고와 일반고 학생 모두 자기희생과 과관여에 가장 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 평가염려완벽주의의 조절효과는 내현적 자기애가 특목고 학생의 경우 냉담, 사회적억제, 일반고 학생의 경우 자기중심성에 미치는 영향에서 나타났다. 즉 내현적자기애가 낮은 일반고 집단에서는 평가염려완벽주의가 낮을수록 덜 자기중심적이 되고, 내현적자기애가 높은 특목고 집단에서는 평가염려완벽주의가 높을수록 더 냉담해지고 더 사회적억제를 많이 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대인관계문제를 경험하는 내현적자기애 성향의 고등학생들이 학교 특성에 따라 긍정적이고 효율적인 대인관계의 형성과 유지에 도움을 주기 위한 경험적 근거가 될 것으로 기대된다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of evaluative concerns perfectionism on the relationship between high school students’ covert narcissism and sub-variables of interpersonal problems according to different types of schools (i.e., special-purpose schools vs. regular schools). Study participants were 1095 students from 1st to 3rd grades in high schools located in Sejong, Daejeon, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Gyeongbuk. Participating schools included seven special-purpose schools (i.e., one gifted high school, four science high schools, and two foreign language high schools) and five regular schools (i.e., one self-governing high school and four regular high schools). The survey used for data collection included measures of Covert Narcissism, Interpersonal Problem, and Evaluative Concerns Perfectionism. Data from regular schools and special-purpose schools were analyzed separately. Findings were as follows. First, covert narcissism was found to have the most influence on social repression and non-assertiveness in special-purpose high school students and on social repression and over-involvement in regular high school students. Evaluative concerns perfectionism was found to have the most influence on self-sacrifice and over-involvement in both special-purpose and regular high school students. Second, the moderating effects of evaluative concerns perfectionism were found in the influence of covert narcissism on apathy and social repression in special-purpose high school students and on egocentricity in regular high school students. In other words, it was found that the lower the evaluative concerns perfectionism, the less egocentric in the regular high school group with low covert narcissism and the higher the evaluative concerns perfectionism, the more apathetic and social repression in the special-purpose high school group with high covert narcissism. These results are expected to serve as an empirical basis for helping high school students with covert narcissism who experience interpersonal problems to form and maintain positive and effective interpersonal relationships according to school characteristics.
