자폐성 장애아동을 위한 동물보조 놀이치료 사례 연구

이 연구는 자폐성 장애 아동들의 사회적 상호작용을 증진시키기 위하여 훈련된 동물을 치료의 동반자로 활용하여 동물보조치료와 아동중심 놀이치료를 실시한 사례연구이다. 동물보조 놀이치료를 2명의 자폐성장애 아동들에게 30회기를 시시하였으며, 치료과정에서 동물은 아동들에게 놀이 친구로서 자신의 세계에서 외부세계로 넘어갈 수 있는 이행기적 대상으로서의 역할을 하였다. 동물은 치료자와 함께 보조 치료자로서 아동에게 조건 없는 수용과 공감, 그리고 신뢰감과 애정을 주므로 서 아동이 편안함을 느끼고 다른 사람들과의 상호작용을 할 수 있는 능력을 키우는데 도움을 줄 수 있었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this case study is to improve the social behavior of an two autistic children through the application of behavior modification by using an Animal Assisted Therapy combined with Child Centered Play Therapy. Two autistic children participated for ten months in 30 Animal Assisted Play Therapy sessions. These two therapies were combined because animals are better playmates than toys for they constantly bring children back into the reality of the relationship, especially for autistic children who have a lack of conception of reality and social relationships. Child Centered Play Therapy is focused on the child's feeling and the therapist's role is to reflect the child's inner self with warmth, unconditional acceptance, empathy, and trust. Animals have those qualities naturally so they work as a co-therapist in the therapeutic setting. The results of the study showed that Animal Assisted Play Therapy improved the social behavior of both autistic children. This study is the first formal Animal Assisted Therapy done in Korea by a registered play therapist with a therapy dog registered with the Delta Society. Further Animal Assisted Therapy combined with Play Therapy. will focus not only on autistic children but also on children with other various conditions such as a physical and sexual abuse, learning disorders and emotional disorders.
