홀로성향-두레성향 척도 개발을 위한 예비연구

초록

본 연구는 상담장면에서 특히 내담자의 문화성향에 대한 이해가 중요하다는 인식하에 개인주의-집단주의 성향(홀로성향-두레성향)을 측정하는 척도를 개발하기 위한 연구의 일부분으로 수행되었다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 초점을 보다 제한하여 홀로성향-두레성향 측정을 위한 예비 문항 추출만을 목적으로 국한하였다. 이를 위하여 어휘가설에 근거하여 국어사전 등을 토대로 성격 관련 어휘 473개를 추출하였으며, 각 어휘를 석사과정 학생들을 평정자로 구성하여 홀로성향-두레성향과 관련된 대인관계 특성어-개인내적 특성어 및 호오도 수준 차원에서 어휘를 평정하도록 하였다. 수집된 자료를 분석한 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 평정자간 분류 일치도 60% 이상을 기준으로 볼 때, 전체 어휘 중 84개 어휘(17.8%)가 대인관계 특성어로, 134개 어휘(28.3%)가 개인내적 특성어로 분류되었다. 둘째, 전체적으로 호 어휘가 오 어휘에 비하여 높은 비율로 나타났으나, 이는 대인관계 특성어냐 개인내적 특성어냐에 따라 차이가 있었다. 대인관계어-개인내적어×호-오 어휘에 따라 분류된 구체적인 어휘들의 속성과 홀로성향자-두레성향자의 특징을 연관시켜 본 결과 성격특성 어휘를 활용하는 것은 홀로성향-두레성향 척도를 구성하는 효과적인 방법이 될 수 있음을 보여 주었다. 논의를 통하여 보다 구체적인 홀로-두레성향 척도 개발의 방향 및 상담장면에서의 활용 가능성, 그리고 연구의 한계와 시사점을 차례로 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study was conducted as a preliminary study for developing Idiocentrism-Allocentrism Scale on the assumption that it is important to understand cultural disposition of clients in counseling. This study restricted its purpose on drawing preliminary items for measuring Idiocentrism-Allocentrism. For this purpose, 473 Personality-Trait Adjectives were drawn based upon material including Korean Dictionary according to lexical hypothesis. Master's students rated these personality-trait adjectives in terms of both interpersonal-intrapersonal trait words and likableness. Major findings of this study were as follows. First, 84 words(17.8%) were classified as interpersonal trait words and 134 words (28.3%) were classified as interpersonal trait words in terms of above 60% of consistency of inter-rater classification Second, on the whole the ratio of positive valence words was higher than that of negative valence words, however, this ratio was different depending upon the types of adjectives(that is, whether the adjectives are interpersonal trait words or intrapersonal words). The results of this study showed constructing a Idiocentrism-Allocentrism Scale using Korean Personality-Trait Adjectives could be effective. More specific directions for developing Idiocentrism-Allocentrism Scale, applicability for counseling were discussed. Finally, the limits and implication of this study were suggested.
