한국인 대학생의 민족정체성이 주관적 안녕감 및 자아존중감에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 한국인 대학생의 민족정체성이 주관적 안녕감 및 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 밝힘으로써 한국인에게 있어 민족정체성이 가지는 의미와 중요성에 대해 알아보고 그에 따른 추후 연구방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구문제로 첫째, 민족정체성 수준에 따라 주관적 안녕감과 자아존중감 수준에서 차이가 있는지를 분석하고 둘째, 민족정체성의 주관적 안녕감과 자아존중감에 대한 영향력을 분석하였다. 한국인 대학생 총 225명을 대상으로 자료를 분석하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민족정체성 수준이 높은 집단이 중간 집단과 낮은 집단에 비해 주관적 안녕감과 자아존중감이 유의하게 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 민족정체성이 한국인 대학생의 주관적 안녕감과 자아존중감을 유의하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상과 같은 결과를 통해 본 연구는 한국인 대학생의 민족정체성이 심리적 변인에 영향을 미치는 의미 있는 개념임을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 국내에서 다루어지지 않았던 개념인 민족정체성 연구의 중요성을 알리는 데에 주요 의의를 가진다. 그 외 연구의 제한점과 그에 따른 추후 연구방향 등에 대하여 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study examined the effect of ethnic identity on subjective well-being and self-esteem. The aim of the study was to find out the role of ethnic identity to the Koreans and overall, to confirm the necessity of future research related to the concept. In order to fulfill the purpose, first, the differences in subjective well-being and self-esteem among the groups with differing level of ethnic identity were examined and second, the regression analysis was used to find out the effect of ethnic identity on the two psychological variables. A total of 225 university students were included in the analysis. The results of this study were as follows: First, the significant differences of subjective well-being and self-esteem were shown between the high group and the middle & low groups. Second, it was found that ethnic identity positively predicted subjective well-being and self-esteem. Thus, ethnic identity is confirmed as a variable contributing to subjective well-being and self-esteem, suggesting that the future research dealing this issue is necessary, especially in a more multi-cultural society.
