외상경험에 의한 심리적 어려움과 회복요인에 대한 개념도 연구: 천안함 피격사건 생존장병을 중심으로

본 연구는 천안함 피격사건으로 외상을 경험한 장병 15명(간부 8명, 수병 7명)의 진술문을 기초로 개념도 분석 방법을 적용하여 실제 전장에서 생존한 장병들의 심리적 어려움과 회복요인을 그들의 입장에서 심층적으로 이해하고, 핵심적 본질을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, 생존장병들의 심리적 어려움의 핵심문장은 77개, 회복요인 핵심문장은 58개로 정리되었다. 핵심문장들에 대해 다차원척도 분석과 군집분석을 실시한 결과 생존장병의 심리적 어려움은 ‘주체적 자기손상 및 대상적 자기손상’ 축과 ‘자기 인식 및 사회적 인식’ 축의 2차원으로 구성되었고, 군집은 총 4개로 분류되었다. 각 군집은 ‘과각성, 정서조절의 어려움’, ‘사후조치와 사회적 반응에 대한 실망’, ‘사회․문화 속 무망감’, ‘생존자 죄책감과 수치심’로 명명되었다. 생존장병들의 회복요인은 ‘능동성 및 수동성’ 축과 ‘내부적 요인 및 외부적 영향’ 축의 2차원으로 구성되었고, 군집은 총 4개로 분류되었다. 각 군집은 ‘심리치료 의지와 안정감 회복’, ‘심리적 위안과 지지’, ‘적극적이고 긍정적인 자기 암시’, ‘억압/회피적 대처전략’로 명명되었다. 본 연구는 전장이라는 특수한 환경속에서 실제로 외상을 경험한 생존장병을 대상으로 하여 심리적 어려움과 회복요인의 개념적 구조를 연구 참가자의 입장에서 규명하였다는데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Using the concept mapping technique, the following study attempted to understand the psychological difficulties and resiliency factors of the 15 survivors (8 officers/non-commissioned officers, 7 sailors) from their perspective based on their statements. The analysis collected 77 key sentences for psychological difficulties, and 58 key sentences for resiliency factors. After performing multidimensional scaling analysis and cluster analysis, the psychological difficulties of the survivors consisted of 2 dimensions: ‘self-agency damage/object damage’ and ‘self-awareness/social awareness’. The psychological difficulties of the survivors were further divided into 4 clusters: ‘hyper-arousal and difficulties in emotion control’, ‘disappointment toward post-treatment and social reaction’, ‘hopelessness from the society․culture’, and ‘survivor shame and guilt’. For the resiliency factors, the dimensions consisted of ‘activeness/passiveness’ and ‘internal factors/external influences’. The 4 clusters for resiliency factors are: ‘will for psychotherapy and stability recovery’, ‘psychological consolation and support’, ‘active and positive self-suggestion’, and ‘repressive/avoidant coping strategies’. The current study is valuable as it investigated the conceptual structure of the psychological difficulties and the resiliency factors of the soldiers who survived from a traumatic experience from the survivors’ perspective.
