군 장병의 자기복잡성과 자아탄력성이 군 복무 적응에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 육군 장병들을 대상으로 자기개념 구조의 대표적 이론 중 하나인 자기복잡성과 군 복무 적응과의 관계를 자아탄력성이 조절하는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 강원도에서 군 복무 중인 장병 289명을 대상으로 자기복잡성 척도, 자아탄력성 척도 그리고 군 복무 적응 척도를 실시한 후 SPSS 프로그램을 사용하여 중다회귀분석을 하였다. 연구 결과, 군 복무 적응에 대한 전체 자기복잡성과 긍정적 자기복잡성 각각의 자아탄력성과의 상호작용 효과는 유의하게 나타난 반면, 부정적 자기복잡성과 자아탄력성의 상호작용 효과는 나타나지 않았다. 즉 전체 자기복잡성과 긍정적 자기복잡성이 낮은 장병들은 자아탄력성이 높을 때 군 복무 적응에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 반면, 자아탄력성이 낮을 때 군 복무 적응에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 병영생활 상담 장면에서 자기모습을 다양하게 인식하지 못하는 자기복잡성이 낮은 장병들의 경우, 자신이 인식한 모습을 능동적으로 행동화하고 실천에 옮기는 자아탄력성의 정도를 높여주는 것이 유용함을 시사해주고 있다. 이러한 연구 결과들에 기초하여 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study is aimed to examine the mediation effect of ego-resilience in the association between self-complexity as a representative concept in self structure theory and adjustment to military service with army soldiers. To this end, this study administered self-complexity scale, ego-resilience scale and military service adjustment scale to 289 soldiers serving in Gangwon-do. The data was submitted to SPSS for multiple regression analysis. The results showed that while the interaction effects of total self-complexity and positive self-complexity with ego-resilience were statistically significant, the interaction effect of negative self-complexity with ego-resilience was not significant. In other words, while low total self-complexity and positive self-complexity scores have positive effects on the adjustment to military service when ego-resilience score is high, they have negative effects on the adjustment when ego-resilience score is low. These findings suggest that it would be helpful for those soldiers with low self-complexity who do not have diverse self-perception in military counseling setting to increase their ego-resilience which can allow them to act upon their self-perceptions. This study also suggests limitations of this study and future directions based on such study findings.
