Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between disconnection and rejection schemas, social support, rejection sensitivity and borderline personality traits in early adulthood, and to verify the mediated moderating effects of social support and rejection sensitivity concerning the influence of disconnection and rejection schemas on the borderline personality traits. For data collection, questionnaires were administered to 360 young adults. The main findings of the study are as follows. First, the moderating effects of social support concerning the effect of disconnection and rejection schemas on rejection sensitivity were significant. Second, the mediating effects of rejection sensitivity concerning the effect of disconnection and rejection schemas on borderline personality traits were significant. Third, the mediated moderating effects of social support and rejection sensitivity concerning the effect of disconnection and rejection schemas on borderline personality traits were significant. The significance of this study is that it has provided basic data regarding specific psychotherapeutic interventions for borderline personality traits caused by disconnection and rejection schemas.
