Abstract

The purpose of this study was to validate the Skovholt Practitioner Professional Resiliency and Self-Care Inventory(SPPRSI) developed by Skovholt(2012) for Korean counselors. The survey was administered on 304 counselors who have professional qualifications and are working in various counseling sites. Using the collected data, the exploratory factor analysis(N=152) was carried out with 30 items chosen after item analysis and the result supported a three-factor structure divided into Professional Vitality, Supportive Relationship, Personal Vitality. Next, the confirmatory factor analysis(N=152) were conducted and the 3-factor model consisting of 24 items was confirmed responses to K-SPPRI; ‘Professional Vitality’(12), ‘Supportive relationship’(5), ‘Personal Vitality’(7). As a result of the correlation analysis to identify the criterion-related validity, KSPPRSI had a positive correlation with YKRO-27 and K-SCAP, but a negative correlation with CBI. Finally, it was confirmed that K-SPPRSI is a more useful scale than the existing scales as a result of the incremental validity verification.
