【Abstract】 Copyright Infringement and Remedies Kim, Jae-Doo Copyright is a set of exclusive rights that regulate the use of a particular expression of an idea or information. At its most general, it is literally "the rights to copy" an original creation. According to the advancement of technology, the types of infringement of copyrighted work are vary. The importance of protection of copyright, however, are not well known to public, and the people do not know how to protect their copyright, though. Therefore, copyright disputes are usually not settled by laws but settled by temporary remedies. The author introduces various type of copyright infringement and criminal and civil remedies. Furthermore, the author comparatively analyzes the way how to solve the problems in the U.S. and Japan as well as revised Korean copyright laws. Copyright law covers only the form or manner in which ideas or information have been manifested, the "form of material expression." It is not designed or intended to cover the actual idea, concepts, facts, styles, or techniques which may be embodied in or represented by the copyright work. Therefore, copyright law does not fully protect such rights. So, it is necessary to prepare the way to indemnify damages from infringement.
