This article examines alienation caused by speed- driven capitalism in David Mamet’s Glengarry Glen Ross. Unconsciously, individuals adapt to the accelerating pace of capitalist culture, feeling pressured to conform. As society and culture prioritize acceleration, both individual lives and societal structures are deeply affected. In capitalist systems, economic efficiency and productivity dominate, eroding the meaning of human existence. Mamet’s work highlights how this relentless pace suppresses free will and personal choice, reducing individuals to components of the system. Glengarry Glen Ross depicts real estate agents grappling with survival under capitalist pressures. Their moral collapse and competitive instincts transform them into beings focused solely on profit. Mamet reveals how this unconscious conformity to acceleration blinds individuals to the consequences of its logic, leading to a society that sacrifices human values for results.
