본 논문의 목표는 하이데거의 「예술 작품의 근원」에서 등장하는 예술의 본질에 관한 규정이 지닌 두 종류의 이중적 의미를 해명하는 것이다. 그 규정에 따르면, 예술의 본질은 “진리의 작품-속으로-[스스로를-]정립하고-있음”이다. 먼저 이 규정은 창작뿐만 아니라 보존에도 해당되기에 이중적이다. 그다음으로는 진리가 정립의 주체이면서 객체일 수도 있기에 또 이중적이다. 이처럼 예술의 본질이 다의적인 것은 그 규정 속에 포함된 소유격 “의”의 이중성(주격 소유격과 목적격 소유격)과 존재와 인간본질의 연관에 기인한다. 본 논문은 하이데거가 「휴머니즘 서한」에서 사유를 “존재의 진리에 의한 그리고 존재의 진리를 위한 참여”로 규정한 것을 참조해 예술의 본질에 관한 규정의 의의를 밝힌다.
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to elucidate the two types of ambiguity in view of Heidegger’s definition of the essence of art in his essay “The Origin of the Work of Art.” The definition reads as follows: “The essential nature of art would then be this: the setting-itself-to-work of the truth of beings.” First, this definition is ambiguous (zweideutig), insofar as it applies not only to creation but also to preservation. Next, truth is ambiguous, because it can be both the subject and the object of the setting. This double ambiguity is based on the duality of the genitive included in the definition as well as on the relationship of being to human being. This paper reveals the significance of Heidegger’s definition of the essence of art by referring to his definition of thinking as “l’engagement by and for the truth of being” in his writing “Letter on ‘Humanism.’”
