Abstract
In the contemporary discourse, the term ‘post-truth’ has surged in prominence since 2016 due to global events such as Brexit and the 45th US presidential election, which underscored the pervasive issue of fake news. Against this backdrop, Lee McIntyre, a distinguished post-truth scholar, seeks to elucidate the concept of truth and advance a comprehensive understanding of post-truth and post-truth phenomena in his work, Post-Truth. This study endeavors to scrutinize Adam and Eve in Milton’s Paradise Lost through the concept of post-truth and the proposed theories specified by McIntyre. I will explore the aspects of post-truth that appear in the two characters by focusing on McIntyre’s arguments and applying the views of other post-truth thinkers. Furthermore, the research aims to offer a novel perspective by examining classical literary works through the contemporary post-truth theory, affirming that timeless classical literature can continue to offer fresh interpretations and enduring significance.
