Abstract

Taking notice of the fact that on the background of Pak Ji-won being evaluated as one of the representative Silhak scholars and literary persons in late Chosun, positive support from a person named Yu Eon-ho did have influence crucially, this researcher will consider how meaningful Yu Eon-ho was to Pak Ji-won separately as a companion on an excursion, literary comrade, and political/financial supporter. In the part of ‘a companion on an excursion’, this author has learned that ‘the excursion to Mt. Geumgang’ formed a meaningful chance for Pak Ji-won to recognize Yu Eon-ho as an unforgettable friend despite the seven years of age difference. In the part of ‘a literary comrade’, too, after coming back from the excursion to Mt. Geumgang, they led different lives from each other; however, through continuous association through literature, Yu Eon-ho was firmly positioned as a literary comrade to Pak Ji-won. Lastly, let’s examine the part of ‘a political/financial supporter’. Pak Ji-won escaped to Yeonamhyeop from Heung Guk-young’s threat thanks to Yu Eon-ho’s help. After the return to Hanyang, too, Yu Eon-ho continued to be a supporter for Pak Ji-won giving unsparing help to him both politically and financially, for example, recommending him to go into the world of politics. This author has found that in the back of Pak Ji-won becoming titled as a writer of great literature in late Chosun, there was support from a person named Yu Eon-ho. This can be the meaning of association between the two.
