Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the humanistic qualities of Crown Prince Hyomyeong and to conduct an in-depth analysis of the “Supplementary Volume” Bupyeon of Sunjo Mujajinjak Uigwe. Furthermore, the study aims to visualize the ideal world that Hyomyeong sought to express through his creative court dances jeongjae as a panoramic painting. Methods: The study primarily adopts a literature review approach. Key materials include not only the Supplementary Volume of Sunjo Mujajinjak Uigwe, but also classical texts cited within the uigwe such as Doseo Jipseong. Result: Crown Prince Hyomyeong made significant contributions in both political and cultural history. Notably, his achievements in literature and court dance stand out in the realm of cultural arts. These accomplishments stem from his profound humanistic cultivation. Analysis of the Supplementary Volume reveals that the imagery of the creative court dances is closely connected to the concept of a peaceful and prosperous era taepyeong seongdae, which, when visualized, embodies Hyomyeong’s ideal world in the form of a scenic landscape. Conclusion: Crown Prince Hyomyeong envisioned a peaceful and prosperous world where his parents and the people could live in harmony. Through his creative court dances, he sought to dedicate his ideal world to his parents, expressing it as a vision of an ideal state.
