원주 법천사지 지광국사탑의 원상 보존 원칙에 관한 연구: 이코모스 헌장 선언문 분석⋅적용을 중심으로

원주 법천사지 지광국사탑은 1085년 건립된 후 지금까지 수많은 시대를 담아왔고 다양한 인위적 개입을 통한 수리가 있었다. 따라서 원형을 특정할 수 없는 건축문화유산에 적용가능한 원상 유지에 초점을 맞춘 원상 보존 원칙이 필요한 시점이다. 원상은 시대에 따라 문화유산에 더해진 정당한 기여는 각 시대를 보여주는 역사적 증거이자 문화유산의 중요성을 구현하는 속성 일부로 원상 보존 원칙을 해석할 수 있다. 또한 다양한 시대성을 담아낸 이코모스헌장 선언문을 분석⋅적용하였을 때, 과거와 지금의 지광국사탑 수리⋅복원 행위는 건축문화유산 관련 헌장 선언문을 충실히 이행하였다. 마지막으로 이코모스 헌장 선언문의 내용과 정합되고 우리나라 문화유산의 특성을 반영하며, 문화유산 헌장의 중요성과 장소성을 담아낸 ‘문화유산 가치 보존을 위한 한국 원칙(2022)’ 해석을 바탕으로 지광국사탑의 법천사지 복원 방안을제시하였다.
Abstract
Since its construction in 1085, the Stupa of State Preceptor Jigwang from WonjuBeopcheonsa temple site has been containing numerous times and there must have been variousartificial interventions have been repair. Therefore, it is time for a conservation principle focusing onmaintaining the Historic state applicable to architectural and cultural heritage that cannot be specifiedin its Historic state. The original state can be interpreted as historical evidence of each era and aspart of the attributes that embody the importance of cultural heritage. In addition, when analyzingand applying the Announcements of the Charters of ICOMOS, which contains various eras, the pastand present repair and restoration of the Jigwang Stupa faithfully implemented the charter declarationrelated to architectural and cultural heritage. Finally, based on the interpretation of the KoreanPrinciples for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage Values (2022), which is consistent with thecontents of the Announcements of the Charters of ICOMOS, reflects the characteristics of Korea’scultural heritage, and contains the importance and significance of the cultural heritage charter, a planto restore the Beopcheonsa Temple Site of the of the Jigwang Stupa was proposed.
