본 논문은 4기간 과점시장모형분석을 통해 중간재 기업의 기술흡수 능력(absorptive capacity)이 각 기업들의 투자전략(기술이전, 연구개발투자)에 미치는 효과를 분석하고, 기술흡수 능력에 따른 각 기업들의 이윤과 사회후생에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 우리는 다음과 같은 사실을 발견하였다: 개도국의 중간재 기업의 기술흡수 능력이 높은 경우 선진국의 최종재 기업의 기술이전에 대한 유인이 높아진다. 기술이전 결과 개선된 품질의 중간재를 공급 받은 선진국에 대한 최종재 수요가 확대됨에 따라 선진국의 최종재 기업과 개도국의 중간재 기업의 이윤은 증대된다. 또한 기술흡수 능력의 향상은 선진국과 개도국의 사회전체후생을 모두 증가시키는 것으로 확인되었다.
Abstract
In this paper, we study the effect of technology absorptive capacity of upstream firm on the level of technology transfer, cost reducing R&D, profits of the upstream, and downstream firms, and social welfares of countries. We set up and analyze the four-stage Cournot duopoly game. We obtain the results as follow: first, when the upstream firm has a higher technology absorptive capacity, the downstream firm is likely to transfer more technology through which the downstream can expand the market demand. Accordingly, the profits of the downstream and the upstream firm increase. In addition, the improvement of technology absorptive capacity increases the social welfare of developed and developing countries.
