Abstract
This paper examines the effect of financial factors on labor demand by analyzing a continually listed manufacturing firm's unbalanced panel data from 1985-2002. We construct a dynamic labor demand model and generate estimates using dynamic GMM estimation technique. Furthermore, we study the effect of financial crisis on labor demand. The results show that the effect of financial distress and financial constraints on labor demand is stronger both for nongroup firms and for firms with high debt relative to assets
