정조대 奉謨堂 운영과 藏書 관리

奉謨堂은 1776년 정조가 규장각에 설치한 藏書 시설로, 역대 국왕의 御製·御筆과 왕실 系譜類 등 국왕·왕실 관련 자료들을 봉안·관리하던 곳이다. 봉모당은 소장 자료의 위상이 높은 만큼 다른 장서 시설들에 비해 세심하게 관리되었다. 정기적인 奉審을 통해 건물의 손상 유무를 점검했고, 장마·폭우 등으로 손상을 입은 경우에는 수시로 봉심과 수개를 실시하였다. 또 국왕이 직접 봉모당 내·외를 점검하는 展拜 규정을 두어 소장 자료들을 더욱 철저히 관리하였다. 정조는 봉모당 자료의 체계적 관리를 위해 소장 자료들을 분류·정리한 목록을 작성하도록 했다. 또, 포쇄 실시 규정을 제정하여 자료들이 안전하게 보존될 수 있도록 하였다. 1782년 강화도 외규장각이 설치된 후 상당수의 봉모당 자료가 외규장각으로 이관됐는데, 특히 영조의 御製類가 가장 큰 비중을 차지했다. 다른 기관에 있던 왕실 자료들이 봉모당으로 이관된 사례들도 많이 있는데, 특히 봉모당 설치 이전에 왕실 자료를 소장했던 종부시 규장각과 창덕궁 珍藏閣의 자료들이 대거 이관되었다. 또, 사도세자 관련 자료들이 봉모당에 봉안된 점도 주목되는데, 이는 사도세자의 위상을 국왕에 준하는 것으로 격상하려 했던 정조의 의도가 반영된 것으로 생각된다.
Abstract
Bongmodang was one of the archives belonged to Kyujanggak, which was for the materials related to the King and royal family such as articles written by Kings, Kings’ calligraphy and genealogy of royal family. King Jeongjo instructed Kyujanggak to make regulations for the preservation and management of Bongmodang and it’s collections. Kyujanggak examined the condition of Bongmodang carefully(奉審) and if the building was damaged it was repaired immediately. King Jeongjo went to Bongmodang in person regularly for checking the building and it’s collections(展拜). Making Catalogs and regular airing for taking moisture out of collections(曝曬) were also carried out. In 1782 large numbers of Bongmodang collections were transferred to Oekyujanggak at Ganghwa island. On the other hand, the materials related to the King and royal family which were housed at other archives and government office were transferred to Bongmodang. Especially Jeongjo transferred the materials of the crown prince Sado, his father to Bongmodang. I guess it was occurred from the intention of Jeongjo to raise the father's status to the king's level.
