Abstract
The volatility of output growth in Korea is often supposed to become higher relative pre-1997 Asian financial crisis. We use a series of structural stability tests including CUSUM test, Nyblom L test, Quandt LR test to characterize the nature and timing of the changes in the process for output in recent years. We found that, once trend component is taken away, the output growth series can be modeled as a stable AR(1) time series, and the volatility of output growth does not exhibit structural change since 1970.
