최근 고용통계에 대한 수요가 점차 늘어나고 다양한 지표에 대한 요구 또한 증가하고 있어 계절조정계열 제공을 확대하기 위해 통계청에서는 지속적으로 노력하고 있으며, 이러한 노력의 결과로 2009년 현재 총 56개 계열에 대한 계절조정계열을 작성 제공하고 있다. 갈수록 활용성이 커지고 있는 현실에서 보다 정확한 계절조정계열의 작성은 중요할 수밖에 없으며, 고용통계 시계열 특성을 고려한 최적의 계절조정방법을 찾아 제시해보는 것은 의의가 있다고 생각된다. 또한 고용통계 자료를 이용하는 연구자로 하여금 자의적인 계절조정결과를 활용하는 사례를 줄일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 고용통계의 계절조정방법을 X-12-ARIMA를 이용한 실증 분석을 통해 각 단계별 최적 옵션을 찾아 제시하고, 계절조정결과에 대한 검증을 실시하였다. 그리고 고용통계에 현재 적용하고 있는 사전조정방법 개선을 위해 명절효과와 근무일수 효과에 대한 검증방법을 모색해보았다.
Abstract
Recently, the demand for employment statistics is steadily increasing, and statistical users are requesting more various indicators. Accordingly, the Statistics Korea continuously tries to expand the provision of seasonally adjusted data. As of now, 56 seasonally adjusted series are being produced and disseminated by the Statistics Korea. With more data uses, it's important to produce seasonally adjusted statistics accurately. Accordingly, it will be very meaningful to find out the optimal method of adjusting seasonality with the features of time series of employment statistics considered. And it is expected that employment statistics users will not apply seasonal adjustment arbitrarily. This paper will present an optimal way of seasonal adjustment for employment statistics through the demonstration of X-12-ARIMA and verify the results of seasonal adjustment. The paper will try to find a method to verify the effects of holidays or working days so as to improve the pre-adjustment method currently applied to employment statistics by the Statistics Korea.
