朴世堂의 장서목록 『家藏書籍』 연구

Abstract

Gajangseojeok (家藏書籍) is a small book handed down in the head family house of Seogye (西溪) Bak Se-dang (朴世堂) of Bannam Bak family. The writer of it and the time it was written has not been revealed till lately. This paper tried to demonstrate the writer of the library catalogue is Seogye Bak Se-dang (1629-1703) and examined how the books recorded in it were classified, how many books he had and how the learning and life of him were reflected in the library catalogue. Gajangseojeok is a small-sized book composed with 26 sheets and slightly bigger than a postcard, but almost 200 kinds of books, nearly 700in volumes, are recorded in it. The writer recorded the titles and numbers of books basically and recorded occasionally the numbers of same books,the numbers of omitted books, the names of borrowers, whether the books were chinese edition and the information on other place books were kept. It had been written from 1688 to 1689. It was found that all the recorded books were owned by Bak Se-dang. However, Gajangseojeok seems to be written by someone under the direction of Bak Se-dang. He classified his library into 9 items and distinguished each item by differentiating the pages. Four items were given to Gyeong (經)-Sa (史)-Ja (子)-Jip (集), another four items were allotted by his lifestyle for convenience’s sake and one item was used to record the paintings and calligraphic works he possessed. This paper tried to look the life and lifestyle of writer in various viewpoint through 9 items classification and classified books. The library catalogue of scholar of Joseon can be a mere parallel record on his book collection but it can be used as research material for many fields. So,it is supposed that the discovery of library catalogues and the study thereon should be conducted continuously. It also can be expected that Gajangseojeok could contribute greatly to some studies on the book distribution, reading trends, knowledge sharing, the introduction and changes of culture and art,the life and learning of individuals in the time the writer had lived.
