연쇄형 지수는 변화하는 경제구조를 기준년 고정 가중치 지수 보다 잘 반영할 수 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이에 따라, 93SNA에서는 연쇄형 지수의 작성을 권장하고 있으며, 미국, 캐나다, 호주 등에서 분기 및 연간 실질 GDP에 연쇄형 지수를 적용하고 있다. 또한 월별 자료인 영국 ONS의 서비스지수 및 미국 교통통계국의 운수서비스지수에 연쇄형 지수를 적용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 연쇄형 지수 작성 방법을 살펴보고, 우리나라의 대형소매점 판매액 자료에 월별 연쇄형 물량지수 작성방법을 적용하여 보았다. 지수 작성 결과 연쇄형 물량지수가 기준년 고정 가중치 물량지수보다 현실 반영도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 개별 물량지수를 이용하여 작성하는 경우, 연간 가중치를 이용하는 것 보다는 월간 가중치를 이용하는 경우 더 안정적인 물량지수를 얻을 수 있었다. 그러나 월별 자료에 내포된 계절성 등을 충분히 제거하지 않는 경우, 기준년 고정 가중치 지수와는 달리 지수 수준을 지속적으로 과대 또는 과소 계상하게 하는 문제가 발생할 수 있다.
Abstract
Chained index use up-to-date weights in order to provide a more accurate economic structure. According to '93 SNA, there is recommended to use by the chained index for quantities when the relative prices are changed rapidly for each periods. This paper is studied method of the chained index for monthly data. The studied method is applied the chained index to the sales of large retail stores of Korea NSO using the weights for annual and monthly. We found the chained index has smaller value of Paasche test than the fixed-weight index. The chained index with the monthly weights has smaller value of Paasche test than the chained index with the annual weights. So, we could get the result that the one is more stable than the other. And, we must pay attention for the drift bias such as seasonality or outliers because these effects are affected the chained index consistently.
